New workshops and new artists come to Workhouse Studios

Laura McNamara ceramics

So what’s next? “We strive to provide new, exciting and challenging creative opportunities and workshops for our local and regional followers,” explains studio manager Claire McAlister. This is definitely evident in the summer schedule of workshops at Workhouse Studios.

Milliner Anne Devaney will host an Introduction to Millinery Techniques workshop on Saturday 4th August. Participants will learn professional hat making skills and produce their own bespoke couture cocktail fascinator or headpiece. Workhouse Studios are also working with interior artist Anita Halley who will host Shabby Chic: Paint Techniques to Re-Invent your Furniture, Walls and Fabrics on Saturday 11th August.

And not forgetting the kids, ceramic sculptor Laura McNamara will host a Stop-Motion Animation workshop from 31st July to 2nd August. “This is a fun and interactive workshop which encourages teamwork,” explains Laura, “Teamwork which engages creativity in story telling as well as sculpting and prop design.” This workshop is perfect for families or groups of friends of any age.

These are only some of the highlights of what is happening at Workhouse Studios this summer. Other workshops include the ever popular ceramics and jewellery making. For more information visit www.workhousestudios.com or on Facebook.

Workhouse Studios is also seeing an influx of artists and designers to the studio this summer. London based photographer Sylvain Deleu visited the studio again last week, shooting the spectacular products being produced by the talented artists and designers at Workhouse Studios. This is Sylavin’s third visit to the studio and artists/designers travel  from all over the country to have their work photographed by him at Workhouse Studios.

In addition Workhouse Studios is welcoming 3 new fulltime artists to the studio and an American on residency  from September. She specialises in a metal working technique called anit-clastic raising. Can we predict another unique and exciting workshop from the studio then this autumn?!

Workhouse Studios continues to prove that creative talent is bursting from its walls! Why not get involved and try one of their workshops or courses this summer?
