If you have always wanted to try your hand- or rather feet- at hillwalking then two groups are organising events in the Comeragh Mountains for National Trails Day. Kilmacthomas Walking Club will meet in car park of Harney's Pub, Lemybrien to head out for an easy walk along forest trails with gentle inclines- event details. The Mid Tipp Hill Walkers will take a 2-3 hour hill walk in the Nire Valley. Their walk is suitable for people with a reasonable level of fitness. Click for more details.
Suitable shoes, lunch and your raincoat are what are needed to join the walk in Glenshelane Woods. The walk through the Glen of the Fairies (Gleann Siothláin) is just over 10km and the path is generally suitable for all.
Explore Waterford city’s new nature park in Kilbarry with Waterford Sports Partnership. This is one of the partnership’s Walk Waterford Autumn series of leisure walks. The walk will last an hour and is buggy and child friendly though children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Full details of these events in Waterford and plans across the country can be accessed on the National Trails Day website.
