The focus of the conference is on what local communities can do to maintain and create jobs, especially in rural areas, with a particular focus on the role of the food industry in developing employment.
The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and will end with a “local foods” lunch much of it produced in the local ecopark.
Speakers will include Scott Daugherty, North Carolina Commissioner for Small Business; Marian Byrne, Principal Officer, Department of Agriculture; Sean Molly, Director of Strategy, Glanbia; John Flahavan, local food producer / entrepreneur; Waterford County Manager Denis McCarthy, Eddie Downey, Vice President, Irish Farmers Association and Suzanne O’Brien, Gourmet Greenway, Mayo.
