The centrepiece of the weekend will see the phenomenal Thundercat powerboats in full national championship racing right on the shoreline on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. These tiny 2-person inflatable raceboats will be pulling up to 3G in turns, hitting speeds in excess of 80km/h and jumping up to 5 metres in the air off the Tramore waves. They've entertained over 50,000 people already this season and now's your chance to see them in their natural habitat ....surf!! While this is their first time racing in Tramore, the hope is that they'll return in the future and bring a European or World Championships with them, which would see teams traveling from all over the world to race and provide an unforgettable sight. This is a completely free spectacle that'll take place right on the shoreline, not way out in the bay, and will run regardless of the weather (in many ways the worse the weather gets, the better the action becomes). This exciting activity is being supported by Waterford County Council and 'Waterford - It's a feeling'.
Continuing the great entertainment on the beach the promenade will see the funky Tramore Tourism Caravan with face painters for the kiddies all weekend, Land Yacht exhibition and beginners taster sessions plus half-price surf lessons from Freedom Surf School, free spooky antics throughout the town and general good-natured Halloween mayhem all around.
Once darkness falls, things will get a whole lot creepier. An exciting outdoor cinema will be showing movies such as 'Ghostbusters' at 7pm each evening in the promenade car-park, and the hotels, bars and restaurants will be brimming with Halloween themes, special offers, music, fancy-dress and fun.
If you're thinking that it might be worth staying over, then you'd be perfectly correct. Accommodation deals start at only €69 per person sharing for two nights bed and breakfast.
So, scare the recession away in Tramore this October Bank-Holiday weekend. Shake your senses at the Thundercat racing, holler along at the music and entertainment running right across the town, and be well and truly shocked at the deals in the restaurants, hotels and guesthouses. It's the best reason ever to get away for Halloween. Further information is available at www.tramore.ie
